The Video Solution

The solution is not to force exhausted doctors to write longer notes. It is to capture the data passively. By analyzing real-time surgical video, computer vision can automatically generate clinical records directly from the operating room.

A fresh €6 million seed funding round for Paris-based startup Uncovr signals that venture capital is betting heavily on this administrative cleanup. Backed by Index Ventures, the startup has already integrated its automated reporting with Moon Surgical’s Maestro Platform, completing its first 20 clinical cases.

This is where the clinical AI market is shifting. Investors are moving away from diagnostic tools that add liability and toward workflow automation that directly recovers lost revenue.

The Realist Hurdle

But capturing video is only half the battle. The real test is integration. Hospitals run on fragmented, legacy electronic health record systems that notoriously resist outside software.

For video-to-text AI to succeed, it must prove its automated reports can survive rigorous insurance audits without requiring constant human correction. If surgeons have to spend their time editing the AI’s drafts, the efficiency gains evaporate. The technology must be invisible to be indispensable.
