The Transactional Shift

For years, search engines merely pointed patients to hospital websites. Now, conversational AI is transitioning from an informational tool into an active transactional agent.

By embedding Zocdoc’s network of 200,000 providers directly into Gemini, Google bypasses traditional search marketing entirely. Amazon is executing a similar playbook. By merging Solv’s scheduling with Amazon Pharmacy, they can offer real-time prescription delivery during the booking process itself.

Nearly half of patients already use AI chatbots to search for providers. The tech giants are capitalizing on this behavior to position themselves as the ultimate gatekeepers of clinical care.
