About the RescQ App

Developed at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre in Basildon Hospital, the RescQ app is designed to support those who witness or respond to cardiac arrests. This includes:

  • Performing CPR
  • Calling emergency services
  • Observing resuscitation attempts
Integration with Emergency Services

The app is integrated into the emergency response system, enabling ambulance clinicians to register bystanders at the scene. Key features include:

  • On-scene debriefing for witnesses
  • Immediate access to the RescQ website via a secure link

Professor Thomas Keeble, founder of RescQ, emphasized the critical role of bystanders in the survival chain during OHCA incidents. He noted that:
