Overview
NHS England (NHSE) has announced a procurement notice for a contract valued at £154.8 million aimed at enhancing the personalisation of digital services and facilitating service upgrades.
Details of the Contract
- The procurement notice was published on 15 July 2025.
- NHSE is looking to award a contract for a digital delivery partner to support Adult Screening and Personalisation Digital Delivery Partner Services.
- The contract is set to commence on 1 July 2026 and will last until 30 June 2029, with an option to extend until 30 June 2031.
Collaboration and Future Plans
The project will involve collaborative efforts with various NHS teams, particularly focusing on the NHS App. A formal procurement process is expected to begin with a tender notice on 16 September 2025.
Government Health Plan
This procurement notice aligns with the government’s 10-year health plan released on 3 July 2025, which emphasizes the NHS’s goal to be ‘digital by default’ and prioritizes the NHS App and personalised, patient-centered care.
NHS App Development
By 2028, the NHS App is projected to serve as a comprehensive entry point to the NHS, providing patients with “a doctor in their pocket.” Key features to be introduced include:
- A ‘My Health’ tool offering personalized health advice based on NHS data, including test results and data from wearables.
- Enhanced patient control over their care, allowing them to guide their care team through the NHS App and a care plan.
Previous Contracts
In January 2025, NHSE awarded a £37.5 million contract to BJSS Limited, now part of CGI, to develop large-scale public-facing digital services, including the NHS App and NHS.UK.
Organizational Changes
NHSE is currently being reintegrated into the Department of Health and Social Care, following an announcement by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in March 2025.
