The NHS Confederation has teamed up with Limbic, a former winner of the Digital Health Rewired Pitchfest, to investigate how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance mental health services and improve access to care.
About Limbic
- Limbic was recognized as the inaugural winner in the scale-up category of the Digital Health Rewired Pitchfest in 2023 for its innovative AI mental health chatbot.
Project Goals
The collaboration aims to:
- Identify barriers and opportunities related to AI use in NHS mental health systems.
- Provide practical guidance on AI adoption, supported by case studies.
- Assist systems in expanding their use of AI tools to foster a supportive environment.

Rebecca Gray, director of the NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network, emphasized the importance of the 10 Year Health Plan, which envisions a health service that integrates digital and AI technologies to enhance care access and effectiveness. She stated:
