An update to the NHS Wales App now enables patients to monitor their status on NHS waiting lists. This feature is available for individuals who have been added to a waiting list since December 2025.

Usage Statistics
As of now, the app has recorded:
- Over 80,000 waiting list referrals
- More than 197,000 hospital appointment notifications
Minister’s Statement
Sarah Murphy, the Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, stated:
“Our ambition remains for the NHS Wales App to become the digital front door for all NHS and social care services. We promised to give people more information about how long they can expect to wait for treatment. These updates deliver on that commitment.”

Since its launch in April 2023, the NHS Wales App has seen:
- Over 650,000 registrations, representing one in five adults in Wales
- Nearly 13.5 million logins
- More than 3 million repeat prescription orders
Accessibility and Support
The bilingual app aims to enhance access to healthcare services for individuals registered with a GP in Wales and is a crucial component of the Welsh Government’s digital transformation strategy.

The app was relaunched in May 2025 with new features, including:
- Health timeline and prescription history
- Secure messaging to GP surgeries
- Identity verification through the Welsh Identity Verification Service
Looking Ahead
In January 2025, the Welsh government announced plans for an electronic health record (EHR) and app to be rolled out nationwide, allowing expectant mothers to access their full maternity records instantly. The Badger Net app and EHR are anticipated to be available across Wales by March 2026.
