Overview
Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust has launched a new digital platform aimed at assisting children with anorexia nervosa and their families. The platform, named TRIANGLE, was introduced in September 2025.
Development and Collaboration
The TRIANGLE platform was developed through a collaboration between:
- Mersey Care’s Children’s Eating Disorder Service (CEDS)
- Professor Janet Treasure from King’s College, London
- Informatics Merseyside
- Mental Health Research for Innovation Centre (M-RIC) – a partnership with the University of Liverpool
Target Audience
This platform is designed to support service users and their families in the regions of Halton, Knowsley, St Helens, and Warrington.
Features of the TRIANGLE Platform
According to Karina Woodyer-Smith, deputy divisional director for children, young people, and families at Mersey Care:
- The platform provides tailored workbooks and videos.
- It includes weekly online forums for families to connect and support one another.
Feedback has indicated that young people feel more at ease discussing their issues in a digital format, while caregivers appreciate the sense of community and support.
Launch Events
The TRIANGLE platform was unveiled during:
- The first digital forum for parents and caregivers of children with anorexia nervosa.
- The first digital forum for children and young people facing anorexia nervosa.

Parents and caregivers reported that the platform helped them:
- Share their experiences and feel less isolated.
- Think positively and support their recovery journey.
Future Prospects
Dr. Ashish Kumar, clinical director of Mersey Care’s Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service, expressed enthusiasm about the platform’s potential to enhance care for young people with eating disorders across the North West and beyond.
