Mentor Insights

Amy Freeman, Chief Digital Information Officer at University Hospitals of North Midlands and chair of the Digital Health Networks CIO Advisory Panel, shared her experience as a mentor in the 2025 programme. She noted that many individuals struggle with imposter syndrome, which can lead to self-doubt regarding their capabilities.

Freeman emphasized the importance of building confidence by addressing the reasons behind such doubts:

  1. Explore the root causes of hesitation.
  2. Determine if these concerns are valid or merely mental barriers.

She praised this year’s group for stepping out of their comfort zones and pushing their limits.

Mentee Experiences

Freeman’s mentees, Kathryn Kaboutian and Louise Williams, both of whom are now members of the CIO Advisory Panel, reflected on their transformative experiences:

  • Kaboutian described the 2025 programme as “a transformative experience” that provided a supportive environment for professional growth.
  • She noted that the encouragement she received was pivotal in shaping her leadership journey and boosting her confidence to pursue a position on the CIO Advisory Panel.
  • Williams found the monthly group sessions to be “super supportive,” helping her realize that many face similar challenges in their roles.
Programme Expansion

The 2025 programme saw an expansion to include mentors from the Digital Health Leadership Programme at Imperial College London and the Clinical Safety Officer Council, which launched in August 2024.

Application Information

The mentoring programme is exclusively available to members of the Digital Health Networks, with 12 places open for application. The deadline for submissions is 10 October 2025.
